A GREAT ARCHAEOLOGICAL FAMILY

Great professionals make possible the knowledge and dissemination of Aquis Querquennis

Since the site’s discovery half a century ago by Antonio Rodríguez Colmenero, dozens of people have collaborated to make this the most studied Roman military camp in the entire Iberian Peninsula. Students, technicians, assistants, workers, researchers, maintenance and cleaning staff, guides, professors, archaeologists, administrators, public officials… all these people today make up the extended Aquis Querquennis family.

Aquis Querquennis: 50 years as a source of knowledge for humanity

Aquis Querquennis is, in the words of its discoverer, one of the most beautiful Roman camps in the entire Roman Empire, and also the most excavated in the entire Iberian Peninsula.

The result of such intensive archaeological work by the Larouco Group within the Aquae Querquennae Via Nova Foundation is a prolific scientific output in the form of books, notebooks, journals, and presentations at conferences and symposia that serve as a driving force for research into the ancient history of Galicia.
